DDR4 is currently the fasted SDRAM available. See the SPD article for the table layout among different versions of DDR and examples of other memory timing information that is present on these chips. On DDR3 and DDR4 DIMM modules, this chip is a PROM or EEPROM flash memory chip and contains the JEDEC-standardized timing table data format. This module has been tested to run at DDR4-2666 at a low latency timing of 15-17-17 at 1.2V. Each module supports Intel® Extreme Memory Profiles (Intel® XMP) 2.0.
Companies continue to sell higher frequency (higher timing) RAM, knowing that people will be duped. The increased latency (timings) often completely outweigh any benefit to the increased frequency.
